Traditional Shepherd’s Pie

Serves: 4 ⤵️

✅Ingredients:

500 g minced beef

15 g olive oil

80 g onion, finely chopped

6 g garlic, minced

240 ml beef stock

30 g tomato paste

15 g Worcestershire sauce

5 g salt

2 g black pepper

80 g carrots, diced

60 g peas

For the Mashed Potato Topping:

500 g mashed potatoes

60 g cheddar cheese, grated

30 g butter

2 g salt

✅Method:

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  2. Add minced beef and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add diced carrots and beef stock, simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in peas.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish.
  5. In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, butter, and salt until smooth. Spread evenly over the beef mixture.
  6. Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 20–25 minutes until the potato topping turns golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with extra gravy and fresh parsley garnish.
