Ingredients:
500 g minced beef
15 g olive oil
80 g onion, finely chopped
6 g garlic, minced
240 ml beef stock
30 g tomato paste
15 g Worcestershire sauce
5 g salt
2 g black pepper
80 g carrots, diced
60 g peas
For the Mashed Potato Topping:
500 g mashed potatoes
60 g cheddar cheese, grated
30 g butter
2 g salt
Method:
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft.
- Add minced beef and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- Add diced carrots and beef stock, simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in peas.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, butter, and salt until smooth. Spread evenly over the beef mixture.
- Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 20–25 minutes until the potato topping turns golden brown.
- Serve hot with extra gravy and fresh parsley garnish.
